Prepare the Mind

How will you prepare your mind for action today?

It's a good question reminding me how I live for today. Well, I woke up as usual at 7am. Today I do not have Tai Jei as our group only plays from Mon or Tue to Friday. Since I have commitment to do work out with my sister at the Club Gym on every Tue, Thur and Sat since Jan 2007, we met at 8am at my apartment lobby. I did cycling for 25 min and then some work out on the tummy and thigh muscles. As last I did some stretches with Yoga forms to enhance the flexibility of my body, in particular to strengthen the power of my legs due to I have a heavy upper body.

While walking back from the Club House back to our apartment, I and my sister enjoyed the sweet aroma from the "Kwai Trees". We talked about how to make Kwai Flower Pudding and how Kwai Flower Tea are made. Fun talk.

I have watched the Tai Jei DVD last evening for some technique advancement purpose so I took the opportunity to practice several postures to grasp the difference in the garden. I have recognized that my right leg is weaker. What a great discovery in learning.Upon back home, my heart was pulled to have my quiet time with God. After chosen the topic of "Prepare the Mind, I immediate tried to capture every thoughts in mind by sitting in front of the computer.

Sorry, it seems I still did not touch the subject on how I will prepare my mind for today? Or may be I am already in the process of preparing my mind. There is always contradictaries and funny perceptions within our mind to struggle what is right......."Evergreen........" I heard of a nice guitar music with a lovely singing voice. It's Ben's singing. He sang Cliff Richard's songs because we went for Cliff's concert in Hong Kong on 5th Feb 2007. We were both inpsired by Cliff's energetic life. He sang with passion and love to his audiences though he is already 68 years old. I and Ben have been joking for a bet to each other that shall we be same as Cliff when we both turn to later 60's.

I, then, let myself be taught by God with His words in 1 Peter 1: 13

"Prepare your minds for action, be self-control; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed....................Be Holy."

Self-control and be Holy caught my attention. It simply implies "staying away from evil" for me. I recalled in this Thursday's Golden Girls House Church at my home, we sang song 46 ".....專心為主撇下世務,平安充滿我心中". We also found a conviction that if we spend time in 專心為主, there will be less time for 世務 as everybody has only 24 hours a day. This inpsired me that I am not necessarily to think it negatively as "staying away from evil". Instead, I could commit myself how much I would like to work on "Be Holy" and what are they.

1 Peter 1:22-23
"Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God."

Thus the action goal and attitude for me should be:
  • obey the truth
  • listen to word of God
  • be re-born
  • offer sincere LOVE from my heart

If we do not have QT, how could we be knowing the word of God and His Truth for us. Re-born is by the grace of God and naturally a sincere LOVE will be restored and built within our heart for expressions and actions required in a day. It could be simply conluded that to prepare your mind for a day by starting your day with a good QT with God.
